Morocco is famous for its beautiful handicrafts, including ceramics with beautiful forms, luscious colors and unique patterns. Many small ceramic workshops are in operation. The production of vases, bowls, plates-everywhere looks the same – the artisan molds the clay on a wheel or pours it in a mold, leaves it to dry, fires it in a ceramic kiln, and decorates it. The ceramic center is the town of Safi, where the history of pottery making is some 5,000 years old and dates back to Phoenician times. Currently, nearly 2,000 artisans are working on Potters’ Hill, in the Chaaba district,in Sidi Abderrahmane.
